It became more than an Alaskan Cruise
The fog created a mystery out of an everyday morning. . .

Tucked in the Tongass National Rainforest,
Ketchikan sleeps in the mist.

Sandy felt blind too, traveling did that to her.   The Alaskan cruise was her Aunt Gigi's idea. At ninety-eight, Gigi knew how to get her way.  Sandy didn't even fight it anymore.  The funny thing was, Gigi always knew a good time.  As the ship docked, Susan drank her coffee and the scene ashore.  She wondered what was it like to live in this town.

Where were they anyway?

Gigi would know. Sandy didn't want to disturb her.  Six AM was too early for the Karaoke Queen.  Sandy researched the schedule.   Oh yes, Ketchikan.  The air seemed too clean on her face.  The view before her was not postcard perfect, but it held her curiosity.

What is it like
to live in Ketchikan, Alaska?

 Many tourists associate Ketchikan, Alaska
with Sarah Palin's Bridge to Nowhere
or maybe salmon.

It is true the infamous Bridge to Nowhere project was a plan to connect Ketchikan with the Ketchikan International Airport.

It is also true that Ketchikan is the Salmon capital of the world.
(ask any local and they will tell you.)

Thousands get off the cruise ships with these tid bit facts but they still wonder:
What is it like to live in Ketchikan?

These Notes from Nowhere are an artistic tribute to Ketchikan, Alaska. A town forced into a sense of humor by one hundred and eighty inches of rain a year.

Please enjoy!
